Hello, everyone! In this post , we’ll go over how to stop automatic downloads in WhatsApp. Disabling this feature will help you save mobile data and avoid unwanted downloads of images, videos, and other files.

Steps to Stop Auto Download in WhatsApp
Open WhatsApp and Go to Settings
- Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of WhatsApp and select Settings.
Go to Data and Storage Usage
- In the settings menu, select Data and storage usage to access the auto-download settings.
Disable Auto-Download for Each Option
- Under Media auto-download, you’ll see three categories:
- When using cellular data
- When connected on Wi-Fi
- When roaming
- Tap on each option and uncheck Images, Audio, Videos, and Documents to stop automatic downloads.
After Saving Data : After unchecking the media types, go back, and your settings will be saved automatically. Now, WhatsApp will no longer download media automatically, helping you save both storage and data.
Additional Tips to Save Internet Data
- Turn Off Auto-Update – Disable auto-update for apps to save data.
- Restrict Background Data – Go to Settings > Data usage to restrict background data for apps.
- Disable Video Autoplay on Facebook – This helps save data when scrolling through Facebook.
- Avoid Online Streaming – Streaming consumes a lot of data, so limit usage when on cellular data.
- Only Enable Essential Notifications – Keep only necessary notifications active to avoid unnecessary data usage.
- Don’t Clear Cache Frequently – Cached data helps apps load faster without using extra data.
